Navratri Puja, fasts and celebration are incomplete without offering Bhog. As we worship nine different forms of Maa Durga there are nine different Bhogs for these auspicious nine days. Bhog for Day 1 – Maa Shailputri
Maa Shailputri, the daughter of Himalaya can be pleased by offering pure Ghee. This blesses the devotee with a disease free life.
Bhog for Day 2 – Mata Brahmacharini
The second form of Maa durga is Goddess Brahmacharini. She is the one who mediates and hence likes simple food. Offer sugar and fruits to maa Brahmacharini. This increases the longevity of the family members. Know the mantra and unique attributes of Maa Brahmacharini. Click Here!
Bhog for Day 3 – Mata Chandraghanta
Mata Chandra ghanta who carries the half form of Moon on her head is the third form. She is clam like Moon i.e chandra. She fulfils all the wishes and provides relief from worldly pains. She gets pleased by offering milk, sweets and Kheer.

Bhog for Day 4 – Maa Kushmanda
Maa Kushmanda is worshipped on fourth day. It is said that the universe is formed from the abdomen of Mata Kushmanda. She is offered Malpua as Bhog. Maa Kushmanda improves the intellect and decision making ability.

Bhog for Day 5 – Mata Skandmata
Maa Skandmata is the mother of Kumar Kartikeya is pleased on fifth day of Navratri. Banana is offered to the Goddess as Bhog. Offering Banana to the goddess keeps your physique healthy.
Bhog for Day 6 – Maa Katyayani
Sixth form is Maa Katyayani – the daughter of Sage Katyayan. Offer honey on 6th day. It is symbol of health and sweetness.
Bhog for Day 7 – Maa Kaalratri
Maa Kaalratri is worshipped as the seventh form of Maa Durga. She is a remover of all the evil powers and thus is called by the name of Kalratri. You should Jaggery or sweets made with jiggery as bhog.
Bhog for Day 8 – Maa Mahagauri – Conduct Kanya Puja
Mahagauri who has a fair complexion is worshiped on eighth day. On this day Coconut is offered to the Goddess as Bhog. She provides success. It is believed that donating Coconut to the Brahmans on this day bless childless couples with child.
Bhog for Day 9 – Maa Siddhidatri

Navratri Recipes for Mata’s Bhog
1) Navratri recipes for Kheer Bhog
Kheer is considered highly auspicious. During Kanya puja or Kanya Bhog, Kheer is served to young girl. Watch the video and learn the navratri recipe for kheer from chef Sanjeev Kapoor.
2) Navratri recipes for Malpua
Milk 1 1/2 litres, Mawa (khoya),grated 50 grams, Refined flour (maida) 3 tablespoons, Green cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon, Ghee for shallow frying, Sugar 2 cups, Saffron (kesar) a few strands, pistachios,chopped 15 – 20
Method for preparing malpua
Boil milk in a heavy-bottomed pan. Reduce heat and simmer till it is reduced and reaches a coating consistency. Add grated mawa and mix well. Bring it to room temperature. Reserve two tablespoons of sugar and form one-string sugar syrup with the rest of the sugar and two cups of water. Dissolve saffron in a teaspoon of hot milk. Add it to the sugar syrup. Add refined flour, green cardamom powder and the reserved sugar to the reduced milk. Mix well and make a batter of pouring consistency using a little milk if required. Heat ghee in a wide mouthed flat-bottomed Kadai. Pour a ladleful of batter to form a pancake. Cook on slow to medium heat. Turn it over when it starts to colour slightly. When both sides are done, drain and immerse in the sugar syrup. Garnish with pistachios and serve hot.
